Calendar tool Clockwise gets new AI-powered interface called Prism

Smart scheduling and calendar tool Clockwise is transforming its interface with an AI-powered assistant called Prism that lets you manage scheduling conflicts, create or delete events in bulk, and turn to-do lists into calendar blocks with text prompts.

Like rival startups Vimcal, which is backed by YC, and Reclaim, which was acquired by Dropbox this month, Clockwise is aimed at enterprises and focuses on optimizing schedules for teams—but you can still use it as an individual.

The new AI assistant can turn typed instructions into calendar events. Enter a query like “Create link to schedule a meeting with Severian next week” and you’ll get a link or block of text to share your availability. And if your suggested meeting time clashes with another event, the tool will suggest an alternative time frame for the meeting.

Prism also allows you to share a link to suggested meeting times that other participants can respond to. The link also reveals potential conflicts.

However, if you need to schedule an urgent meeting, Prism can check the schedules of different team members, select an optimal time, and automatically reschedule any conflicting events.

You also have the option to schedule tasks from a to-do list in your calendar and move them around if you happen to be in a meeting. And if you want to schedule similar meetings with a group of people, you can enter a prompt like “Schedule 15-minute one-on-one meetings with Frank, Robin, Nami, and Tony.”

You can also use commands like “Move my afternoon” or “Keep my Monday morning free” to quickly reschedule tasks.

Matt Martin, CEO of Clockwise, told TechCrunch that the company uses a custom scheduling engine that interacts with natural language queries to identify conflicts and optimal timing.

“I’ve seen many startups naively try to connect LLMs directly to Google Calendar’s APIs. It’s no wonder these tools fail when you get beyond the simplest use cases. We’ve spent seven years building the world’s most advanced scheduling engine, and this layer enables Prism to quickly and reliably make decisions to find the best time slots for tasks and meetings,” Martin said.

Clockwise offers Prism free to all customers and is working on deeper integration with Google Calendar and better support for weekly schedules.
