Mayfair House Hotel & Garden has announced that renowned Chef Giorgio Rapicavoli will take the helm at Mayfair Grill, ushering in a new era for the popular Coconut Grove restaurant.
Starting in early August, Mayfair Grill will be remodeled to showcase Rapicavoli’s distinctive cooking style that has made him a favorite of foodies in Miami and beyond.
Known for his creative vision at Eating House and Luca Osteria, Rapicavoli brings his expertise to Mayfair Grill. Inspired by his Argentinian roots and Miami’s diverse culinary landscape, he will create cuisine that celebrates Coconut Grove’s rich heritage.
“Our approach is based on high-quality ingredients,” he explained.
A central part of his technique is open flame grilling, which enhances the flavor profile and produces deliciously roasted foods.
Rapicavoli’s cooking method follows a deceptively simple but effective formula: ingredients. Fire. Season. Plate. The process emphasizes selecting top-quality ingredients, harnessing the power of the flame, seasoning precisely, and presenting dishes with thoughtful simplicity.
“This allows the natural flavours to shine,” noted Rapicavoli. “We don’t hide behind complex techniques or exaggerated garnishes. Instead, we let the first-class dishes and the mastery of fire speak for themselves.”
The new menu, designed for sharing, features a number of standout dishes. Guests can look forward to delights such as avocado “caprese” with Florida burrata, purple basil and citrus vinegar, Sebastian Inlet mussels with white beans, chorizo dashi and grilled bread, and green pasta with jalapeño pesto with stracciatella, Florida basil and cashew. Other notable offerings include lobster ravioli with thermidor sauce, brandy, shallot and citrus, pasture-raised chicken with cilantro salsa verde and grilled lime, and shrimp with preserved lemon and Calabrian chili.
The Mayfair Grill experience combines sophisticated design with the natural beauty of Coconut Grove. Decorated in earth tones and elegant accents, the restaurant is centered around an open kitchen and bar. This ambience continues in the outdoor dining area, where guests can enjoy their meals amidst lush landscaping and cascading fountains, reflecting the hotel’s garden-centric design.
“We want Mayfair Grill to be the go-to place in the Grove, whether you’re looking for a quick bite on a weeknight or celebrating a special occasion,” Rapicavoli said. “Our goal is simple: to create an inviting space where the food speaks for itself. This development follows Mayfair House Hotel & Garden’s numerous accolades since its reopening, including being named to Travel + Leisure’s 2023 It List, Condé Nast Traveler’s 2023 Hot List and the Readers’ Choice Awards, as well as recently being awarded two Keys by the Michelin Guide.
The Mayfair Grill, under Chef Rapicavoli, will open in phases. Starting in August, the restaurant will serve dinner and happy hour daily. In October, the concept will expand to include weekend brunch and lunch, and by the end of the month, the restaurant will be fully open for all meals.
