Chick-Fil-A launches a streaming platform (yes, you read that right)

I promise you this is real. I know we’ve seen a lot of fake stuff fired off the Lights Camera Barstool Twitter account over the years, but this is real.

EXCLUSIVE: Chick-Fil-A is aggressively moving into the entertainment space with plans to launch a slate of original titles for its own streaming platform.

According to Deadline, the fast-food company is working with a number of major production companies, including some studios, to develop family-friendly shows, particularly in the unscripted space. There are also ongoing discussions about licensing and acquiring content.

Okay, first question…

When I think of companies that don’t need anything to boost their brand, it’s Chick-Fil-A. But they’re also a business, and businesses need to make money, so why not!

The second question is: “How will they deal with Sundays?”

I don’t have an answer to that, but I do know the answer to the question: “What will they have on this platform?”

So far, according to Deadline, it sounds like Chick-Fil-A will be focusing on unscripted reality TV and game shows (family-friendly, according to Deadline) with their streaming service. In the future, they could also look into scripted content, and I’d bet they’ll do that pretty quickly. They could also acquire content and projects (which I think they’ll do pretty quickly, too).

A lot of companies that have nothing to do with entertainment (Lyft, Airbnb, etc.) have been getting into the space lately, so this isn’t that weird. It’s just a little funnier since this is a company known for selling chicken sandwiches. While it’s certainly funny, we should also remember that before Amazon was producing TV shows and movies, it was simply… selling books. So, who knows, maybe one day Chick-Fil-A will have the cow mascot on stage at the Emmys or Oscars.

As a fan of Cane, I have to say that their streaming service would be a huge success just because of the number of celebrities that love the brand. If they launched a platform, there would be tons of entertainers ready to create content.
