Cincinnati Reds lose to Toronto Blue Jays 10:3

The Cincinnati Reds (61-65) lost 10-3 to the Toronto Blue Jays (59-67) on Tuesday night.

Here are our findings after the game:

A tough night for Spiers

The Reds used an opener for Carson Spiers’ rotation last time out, but with the bullpen throwing so many innings lately, they decided to give Spiers another start Tuesday night. It didn’t work out.

The right-hander allowed 10 runs on 13 hits in just 4 1/3 innings.

The Blue Jays hit five home runs against Spires, including two by George Springer.

Another tough day for the Reds offense

After the Reds recovered from a tough series on Monday night, the offense ran into trouble again, scoring just three runs on nine hits.

Noelvi Marte hit a single in the second inning to tie the game at one run.

In the sixth inning, Elly De La Cruz hit a triple and scored on an RBI groundout by Tyler Stephenson.

Spencer Steer added an RBI single in the eighth.

Jonathan India and Marte both had two goals that evening.

Luke Maile, two scoreless innings!?

For the second time in four games, the Reds brought in Luke Maile as a starting pitcher. Maile went 1-2-3 in the seventh inning before retiring the team in the eighth. Maile has yet to allow a run this season.

The Reds bullpen pitched 4 2/3 scoreless innings.
