Cinderlands Beer Co. in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania is seeking a passionate, hardworking, and detail-oriented individual to join our team as a Delivery Driver and Warehouse Worker at Cinderlands Warehouse. Our brewing staff operates a 15 BBL brewhouse with 15 BBL and 30 BBL fermenters, Brite tap tanks, lager tanks, and a bottling line in an urban brewhouse setting. We will produce over 4,000 BBL of draft and packaged beer in 2024, with the majority going to own distribution and wholesale and the remainder served locally at our brewpubs and suburban taproom.

Cinderlands Warehouse is a 300+ seat brewpub that opened in May 2019, just 1.5 miles from the original Cinderlands Foederhouse Brewery and its Long Story Short retail concept. Both pubs feature imaginative, professional kitchen teams led by talented chefs who partner with us to deliver exceptional experiences to our guests. Cinderlands was named one of the best new breweries in the country by USA Today and Hop Culture Magazine in 2018 and one of the top 10 breweries in the country by Hop Culture Magazine in 2019. We have won two gold medals at the Great American Beer Festival and a gold medal at the World Beer Cup.

This position is full-time, hourly, and non-exempt (overtime is possible). Expected work hours are 35-49 hours per week, typically between 8:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m., Monday through Friday, with occasional weekend work. The Delivery Driver and Warehouse Associate will report partially to the Packaging Manager and partially to the Sales Manager.

This is an entry-level position for someone who has a passion for great beer, the curves and inclines of Pittsburgh’s streets, keeping customers happy, and growing in a small, independent, family-owned business. There is an opportunity to get a taste of production work, such as cleaning and filling kegs and working on the bottling line.

The duties of delivery drivers and warehouse employees include:

  • Delivering cans and kegs to our self-distribution customers throughout Allegheny County
  • Preparing wholesale beer orders for collection from our warehouse
  • Communicate with our retail managers and packaging manager to plan and execute the flow of finished beer and kitchenware between our physical locations
  • Transport of the finished beer from our brewery to our external warehouse
  • Transport of brewing and packaging materials from our external warehouse to our brewery
  • Organizing our warehouse and cooler for safety, efficiency and product rotation
  • Management of the operation and maintenance of our warehouse
  • Thorough and accurate counting and recording of inventory
  • Receiving, organizing and packing shipments
  • Cleaning and filling of barrels, including transport of barrels for cleaning
  • Supporting the packaging manager with packaging on our automated canning line
  • Grinding grain
  • Safe and efficient work
  • Maintaining safe conditions for other employees and visitors
  • Maintaining high standards of cleanliness and order in the production area
  • Following the SOPs for production, delivery and storage and contributing to their continuous development
  • Keep accurate, current and legible records
  • Troubleshooting mechanical equipment to ensure safe and timely production of finished beer
  • Communicate with superiors to understand and fulfill responsibilities
  • Reporting safety, maintenance or beer quality issues to supervisors
  • Represent Cinderlands Beer Co. in a positive manner and avoid actions, statements and situations that do not reflect Cinderlands culture, standards and goodwill in the community
  • Deployment at customer-oriented events on site and outside normal working hours, e.g. trade fairs, beer evenings and beer festivals
  • Other assigned tasks

Qualifications and desirable characteristics:

  • Passion for beer and brewing, demonstrated by professional brewing experience, home brewing experience, or formal or self-directed training
  • Ability to demonstrate repeatable, unaided competence in complex and sensitive tasks after training, practice and feedback

  • A valid and current driver’s license and the ability to load and unload a van or truck and drive on site (no CDL license required)

  • Ability to lift and carry 55-pound bags
  • Ability to climb ladders
  • Ability to push and pull 75 kg barrels across the floor
  • Ability to unload 2,500 pound pallets of grain and sugar, 50-55 pounds at a time
  • Ability to work in confined spaces with low ground clearance for extended periods of time
  • Ability to work in extreme heat and cold for short periods of time
  • Ability to work with hazardous chemicals and wear personal protective equipment
  • Willingness to travel by car and plane
  • 21 years or older

Compensation:

Competitive wage.
