City of Cushing asks residents to keep water usage to a minimum; boil water order lifted

The city of Cushing on Friday again urged residents and workers to continue their water conservation efforts.

Acting City Manager Derek Griffith said that while the voluntary boil water advisory has been lifted, everyone should continue to limit consumption to essentials. They had previously said that the city needed rationing measures because current consumption levels would exceed the work they were doing to restore city reserves.

“Please continue to conserve water and limit usage to what is necessary. While we have made great progress in returning to normal operations, we are not there yet. Please help by doing your part to save water,” Griffith said on Facebook.

Rotary clubs in the area are helping out because the Rotary motto is “Service Before Self.” Rotary clubs across America are dedicated to helping people in their communities.

The Sand Springs Rotary Club donated a pallet of water bottles to Cushing. The water went to 32 families who currently do not have access to water.

“Whether it’s building a wheelchair ramp or, in this case, raising money for water,” said Danny Hancock, president of the Sand Springs Rotary Club.
