Colorado lawmakers form bipartisan Second Amendment caucus | Legislature

Colorado lawmakers have created the Second Amendment Caucus, a bipartisan initiative aimed at “promoting and protecting the right to keep and bear firearms in Colorado.”

“Today is an important step in defending the Second Amendment rights of every Coloradan,” said Republican Rep. Ryan Armagost of Berthoud. “The Colorado Second Amendment Caucus is committed to creating common sense policies that protect our freedoms while promoting responsible gun ownership and safety.”

According to Armagost and Republican Rep. Scott Bottoms of Colorado Springs, the group’s mission revolves around three core principles: developing thoughtful policies that uphold the Second Amendment, We continue to work on a bipartisan basis to defend these rights and educate the public about firearms and gun safety.

“Firearm safety and education should not be partisan issues,” Bottoms said. “Our goal is to ensure that all Coloradans are informed and safe about firearm ownership. The Colorado Second Amendment Caucus will serve as a platform for collaboration and understanding across party lines to achieve this goal.”

Lawmakers say the caucus was formed in response to increasing voter concern about gun control and the need for a balanced approach that respects the Second Amendment while considering safety.
