Commissioners approve Purple Heart Parkway amendment ordinance

Bob Cox | Magazine Review

Montgomery County Commissioners on Monday approved an ordinance amendment for the Purple Heart Parkway project.

The Indiana Department of Transportation requires that the driveways be made of concrete, not gravel. The cost of the change is $217,135, split equally with the city.

Montgomery County Executive Tom Klein reported that the change is not as significant as it seems. He knows another change is coming that will result in a $40,000 credit. Klein also said the original estimate included additional funds for possible change orders.

Commissioners on September 24 approved the closure of one lane along Glenway Drive between houses 1089 and 1129 for a street festival.

Cale Stephens of the county highway department presented the results of a traffic study on CR 150 South between SR 47 South and CR 200W. Stephens recommended a speed limit of 45 mph between CR 200W and SR 47 South.

A stop sign was approved at the intersection of Ladoga Road and the new Purple Heart Parkway extension from US 231 South.
