Confirmation, history and everything we know

Comic icon Garth Ennis changed the television landscape with the adaptation of his comic. The boysand now his horror comic Crossed will receive a full-length adaptation. Accentuated by Ennis’ pronounced bloody and exaggerated sensibility, Crossed imagines a world where a deadly virus ravages humanity, causing those infected to act out their most evil thoughts and desires. What makes the post-apocalyptic vision particularly frightening is that the infected hordes retain their human intelligence, making them sly predators rather than shambling zombies. How The boysEnnis took the hackneyed zombie genre and actually added something new.

Garth Ennis’ work has already proven to be perfect material for films and television, and The boys is perhaps the most popular superhero television series of all time, despite being a satirical take on the genre. It is more akin to Ennis’ other classic work, preacher, Crossed used the comic book medium to tap into the zombie/rage virus trend popular in the 2000s, but did so by taking things to the most extreme levels possible. Crossed is being made into a film. It is the first time that an Ennis comic is being shortened to a full-length story.

It is unclear at this stage of development whether the comic adaptation is aimed at fans of
The boys
or whether it is aimed at a completely different audience.

Although The boys is by far Garth Ennis’ most famous work today, Crossed is completely separate from his popular anti-superhero universe. Actually, The boys is a biting satire about corporate greed, nationalism and a number of other sensitive topics, while Crossed is a horror film without borders. The two works do not take place in the same universe, and it is likely that the adaptation of Crossed will be a breathtaking departure from the ironic, bloody fun of The boys. Although violence and bloodshed are a consistent theme in Ennis’ work, Crossed takes things to another level.

As an AMC adaptation of preacher has shown, Ennis’s works are a challenge for the screen because of their exaggerated brutality and disregard for conventional morality. The boys captures that tone in a distilled way, and the numerous changes between the comics and the show were probably made to tone things down. Ennis is writing the screenplay for Crossed, And He couldn’t shorten his post-apocalyptic horror story so much. At this stage of development, it is unclear whether the comic adaptation is aimed at fans of The boys or whether it is aimed at a completely different audience.

Like most zombie stories, Crossed sees a deadly virus ravaging humanity and bringing about the apocalypseThe virus in Crossed causes the infected to pursue their most heinous desires, including murder, cannibalism, and a variety of other unspeakable acts. Unlike the shambling zombies of The Walking Dead, the “cross faces” of Crossed retain their human intelligence, making them a uniquely deadly opponent.

This basic framework will form the background for the story, but the remaining details will probably be completely original to the film. The various volumes of Crossed Follow different groups of survivors as they try to navigate their new post-apocalyptic landscape. The storytelling possibilities are endless.
