Since Maren Morris announced that she was single and available following her divorce from Ryan Hurd earlier this year, the singer has been dating someone. But she quickly realizes that things are different for her this time.
In a new interview with Cosmopolitan’s video series “Cheap Shots,” the “My Church” singer revealed that she’s been dating and even tried out the famous membership-based dating social media platform Raya.
Morris recounted her experience after being asked which celebrities had sent her direct messages since announcing her divorce.
This led to Morris saying that she briefly dated the star, whom she met on Raya, but that the sparks soon stopped flying.
“I don’t want to mention the person’s name because it wasn’t a (swear word),” Morris said.
“But they were really, really in love. I went on, like, two dates with them and it just wasn’t fun,” Morris continued. “I feel like I’m talking to my mom or something and saying, ‘Why don’t you text me back?’ Because I went on two dates with you and I’m on tour. I’m working.”
As previously reported, the singer spoke about the basic rules of her dating life in an exclusive interview with People.
“I don’t hide any part of myself. I feel like I can’t really do that because I’m a public figure, semi-public, so everything’s on the table, but I have to protect my heart as well,” the 34-year-old revealed. “I think there’s less pressure to make something spark or make something happen, it’s just like I’m enjoying going out for the first time. Nothing crazy has happened yet, it’s just mostly been like, okay, I can still do this, I guess, and meet a stranger and make a connection through conversation. That’s harder than you think.”
Morris and Hurd split in 2023 after nearly six years of marriage. Morris has since spoken out about life after the divorce while raising their 4-year-old son, Hayes, with Hurd. In June, Morris came out as bisexual.
