Indie favorite Cult of the Lamb isn’t going to slow down anytime soon, by the looks of things. Although it recently received a huge hotseat multiplayer update, developer Massive Monster is already looking forward to celebrating the game’s second birthday with – believe it or not – Cthulhu himself. However, slightly toned down.
More specifically, Massive Monster wants Cult of the Lambsecond birthday with the re-release of the Cthulhu pendant for free to everyone playing the game on August 16th. I say “re-release” because some of you may remember that the Cthulhu form isn’t actually new, but an old pre-order bonus that went unnoticed until now. We can now claim it back along with a number of appropriately festive anniversary goodies.

If you feel that the Unholy Alliance Update for Cult of the Lamb a tentacle or two was missing, then log into an updated version of the game on August 16th to fix this issue. Anyone who claims the Cthulhu Follower form will also receive the fancy Flower Cart, Prayer Box, and Stone Candle Lamp accessories for the Cult Grounds, which is nice in itself.
I’m not sure if Cthulhu will now be available permanently as a bonus for all players, or if it’s a one-time bonus for people who log in specifically on August 16th. I recommend following Massive Monster’s specific instructions if you want to unlock the big boy in your game: “Make sure your game is up to date. Cthulhu and decor will be available in-game once your system clock reads August 16th,” the announcement reads.
For those who chase a real world Cult of the Lamb Goodies or two, the announcement also highlights some cute new plushies and shirts, and they seem to be really well designed. Great stuff, although I’ll probably stick with the green tentacled villain myself.
