Cynthia Addai-Robinson from “The Rings of Power” gives a taste of season 2

The first season of The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power ended with the mega-revelation that the handsome loner Halbrand is actually Sauron – and according to Star Cynthia Addai-RobinsonIn season 2 it only gets darker.

“Season 2 is definitely very focused on Sauron, but it’s really going to be… almost like an origin story,” 39-year-old Addai-Robinson said exclusively We weekly before The Rings of Power‘s season two premiere. “(It’ll) go into a little more depth as far as his journey and why he is the way he is and what his endgame is.”

Although she stars in the series herself, Addai-Robinson – who plays the Númenórean queen Míriel in the Prime Video series – is still excited about the new episodes, not least because the world of the series is so expansive.

“I don’t necessarily get to see all the scenes in different parts of the world, so I’m actually looking forward to seeing his scenes,” the actress explained. “I haven’t seen a lot of the stuff he worked on in Season 2, so I’m very excited.”

Addai-Robinson further noted: Charlie Vickerswho plays Halbrand/Sauron is very different from his notoriously evil character in real life.

“When you hear the name Sauron, when you know it, it has meaning outside of our story,” she said. “People use it whether they want to use a metaphor or just as a name for evil personified. (He’s) played by one of the nicest (people). Charlie Vickers? Not evil. We love you!”

Vickers, 31, is not the only co-star Addai-Robinson has not seen much of, as The Rings of Power‘s numerous locations. After a time away from the camera with Sophia Nomvete Earlier this year, Addai-Robinson pushed for her characters to interact on screen. (Nomvete, 34, plays the dwarf princess Disa, whose scenes have so far been limited to Khazad-dûm.)

“I just got back from Essence Fest in New Orleans, and my wonderful, wonderful colleague Sophia Nomvete and I… we said they need to bring us together,” recalls Addai-Robinson. “Can we find a way to somehow connect our worlds? And I think that’s the beauty of it. We’re all one group that had this incredible experience producing this show.”

But will the actors get matching tattoos like the stars of Peter Jackson‘S Lord of the rings trilogy made famous?

“No tattoos that I know of, but I don’t speak for anyone else!” said Addai-Robinson, who also pointed out that Jackson’s main cast isn’t quite that big. “Trying to get people in their 20s to all agree on a tattoo? … A tattoo can be kind of an external way to commemorate something, but your memories of an experience and even just the pictures that I have, some of it is on social media and some of it is just for me where it’s like, ‘I’m always going to remember this time fondly.’ So we’ll come up with something (to commemorate it).”

Season 2 of The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power Premieres on Prime Video on Thursday, August 29th.
