Daisy Ridley announces that she has been diagnosed with Graves’ disease

Redditor ChaiCreamLattea asked:

“What is the worst thing your partner has done to you and what have you forgiven him for?”

Just so we understand each other

“There is a long hallway from our living room to the bathroom. The bedrooms are off this hallway and there are also a few closets along the way. When we get ready for bed, my husband and I usually get ready together.”

“One night as we were going to bed, I went to get something from the hall closet closest to the bathroom. My husband thought the door had simply been left open and banged on it to close it as he passed.”

“He slapped the shit out of the door. Not in a mean way at all, he just said ‘BAH!’ and slammed the door aggressively, but I was standing right on the other side.”

“I’m also disabled. I was disabled before the door hit me. But I fell pretty hard.”

“He felt TERRIBLE! He cried, I didn’t. It’s pretty funny looking back. But I don’t think I could bring it up with him without him feeling horrible again. And that was years ago.”

He is very careful about slamming doors now, lol (laughs out loud).”

Reflexion_Secure

I’m sorry, but I lost it when you said, “I’m disabled. I was disabled before the door hit me.” When I got to the “I’m disabled” part, there was no way I thought you meant you were disabled NOW THAT YOU HIT THE DOOR LIKE THAT. When I read the next part, I had to laugh.”

Unacceptable behavior

He made mooing noises while I was breastfeeding my son.”

– SmoochyBooch

I’m sure the funeral was beautiful.”

– WarWrath

What was she thinking?

“I was dating this girl. Well, it was basically a situational relationship, and one day I went to visit her (we lived in two different cities), and when I left, she had put an Apple Air Tag in my gas tank because I didn’t want to tell her my location since we had just met.”

“I found it a few days later when I was filling up my gas tank and saw that it was attached with duct tape.”

Kitchen drama

Sometimes he forgets to wring out the sponge when he does the dishes, but I can forgive him for his mistakes from the bottom of my heart.”

– damn dragon

Truly, your heart is an ocean within another ocean.”

– Lars_Porsenna

This ocean would disappear if he squeezed the sponge. He obviously knows what he has.”

– Excellent_Coyote6486

Who does something like that?!

SHE STOLE THE SKIN OF MY CHICKEN.”

– Sinnersw101

“Every Christmas my stepfather would roast a turkey, peel off all the skin right out of the oven… and throw it in the trash while it was still steaming hot.”

He was a psychopath in many ways. I don’t know how my mother could stand him.”

Fear of fraud

“I have been falsely made to believe that I am cheating and want to cheat. Multiple times.”

“My wife suffers from post-traumatic stress disorder due to horrible things in her past, and it manifested itself in this way during the first few years we were together. She has worked very hard to get over it within her means, and it hasn’t been an issue for some time now.”

– Weapons_57

“I’m going through this right now with my wife of 13 years. She had a fight with a mutual friend and didn’t tell me about it. Then she accused me of cheating because I didn’t drop her as a friend right away. It got to the point where I left home and moved into my own apartment where I have 50% custody of our two children.”

We are working on this in couples therapy and each of us in individual therapy. I am learning that there were many warning signs and instances of abuse that I ignored/overlooked that have greatly affected my own mental health over the years. I love her to death and I know her actions are largely due to her unresolved traumas from the past, but the cycle of abuse will end one way or another. I just hope it doesn’t end in divorce.”

You will never get this moment again

“My mother (79, in assisted living) was in the emergency room about twice a week, sometimes for something serious like a urinary tract infection and sometimes just dehydrated because she refused to drink water.”

“The next day I had to sing at a big concert, so my husband said he would take my phone away so I could sleep. Sweet, sweet man.”

“He got a call from the hospital saying they were taking Mom to the emergency room. He thought she was going to be OK, so he didn’t wake me up at that time.”

“When the doctor called and asked for DNR, he woke me up. I didn’t get there in time. I had to sing at the concert that night because it was too late to get a replacement. Mom’s hair had been dyed because she was going to come to the concert with a nurse. I didn’t tell anyone about her death until after the concert so I could get through it.”

“I literally collapsed afterward. There was no way he could have known that was the last time I would be in the emergency room. He tried to take care of me before the show because I had exhausted myself taking care of her. I couldn’t be mad. But I will always wish he had woken me up earlier so I could be there for her final moments.”

– diva0987

“I work in healthcare and have a lot of experience with long-term care. Unfortunately, it is far too common for a UTI to develop into a uroseptic infection. A simple-looking UTI can become fatal very quickly, especially in older, frail people. And UTIs are SO common.”

“I am so sorry for your loss. I don’t know if the facility just didn’t know how serious it was this time, or if they left it intentionally vague, or if your husband just didn’t understand, but it is extremely tragic and I am so sorry all around.”

“I really don’t think this was your husband’s fault. I would be more inclined to blame the facility, but they also probably didn’t know how serious the situation was and they got her into the ICU as quickly as possible (or so it sounds like), so it’s just one of those situations where it’s super difficult to blame anyone in particular.”

“I’m sorry you didn’t get to say goodbye to your mom, and I really hope you realize that you didn’t do anything wrong and that sometimes it’s just time to go.”

– Girldracula19

Pizza is a serious matter

“He is aI ate the last slice of pizza and left the empty box in the fridge. It was a hard moment, but love won.”

– Obvious_Currency139

Straight to jail, lol (laughs out loud).”

– Girldracula19

How practical

As if by magic, he always has to poop when I ask him to do something, lol (laughs out loud).”

– Nearby-Cash5603

Oh my god, my middle child ALWAYS did that. It drove me crazy! He really does have ‘bathroom issues’ but my goodness boy, better timing. He’s much better now, but he still does it occasionally. He’s 24 now.”

– Rare-Crazy9319

No friendship material

“She went on a ‘girls’ weekend’ trip and only told me after she got back that most of the other girls had brought their partners, but her friend who had organized it didn’t like me and came up with some stupid excuse as to why she shouldn’t invite me.”

“I’m not sure if she knew what her friend was up to, and the only other singles there were girls, so I don’t think there was any infidelity, but it was kind of shitty and caused me to cut her best friend out of my life forever.”

– Judgment Chair

I told you so

“She’s been a constant source of concern to me with her lack of street smarts and common sense. I’m going to tell her not to do some things because then I’ll have to rescue her.”

“Then every now and then I get a call in the middle of the night saying she did what I told her not to do and I was right. Then I have to go and save her.”

– Ouija429

Public humiliation

“I asked him to hold my hand as we walked through a large crowd in a strange place in a strange country. He knew I was unsure because I asked him for that help three times!”

“Instead, he decided to just walk two or three meters behind me and shout ‘Left! Right! Right! Left!’ etc. to show me the way to the correct elevators.”

“I felt humiliated. Everyone was staring at me and I wanted to sink into the ground. All I wanted was for him to gently lead me by the hand, but that’s what he did instead, making me the center of unwanted attention as I wandered around confused, trying to find my way.”

I know it sounds like a small thing. Some people might even find it amusing. But for me it was totally embarrassing and scary and I’m still working on forgiving him for that. Not that he ever asked for forgiveness or even apologized… but that level of forgiveness takes a while and it’s not for him, it’s for me.”

– Xylorgos

Such a slap in the face

“He watched ‘Legend of Korra’ before we even finished the first season of ‘The Last Airbender,’ even though I literally begged him not to. I’ve forgiven him, but that won’t be forgotten.”

– Anna_Stone00

Understandably human

“He is a very good man, that’s why I can only think of two in 8 years.”

“He promised to drive me to an exam. He left 15 minutes late and I was late for the exam. I almost dumped him.”

“He recently had a blood test done. When I asked him if he had spoken to the doctor about a specific concern, he said no, he hadn’t.”

“Just two hours later, he confessed he had lied. He was so disturbed by this concern, and the doctor was the one who brought it up. It scared him so much that he buried his head in the sand. When I asked him about it, he panicked.”

I forgave him pretty quickly.”

– Low_Engineering8921

Forgive and yet

He cheated on me and said I was the love of his life. I forgave him, but luckily after a while I realized how stupid I was.”

– natasharich69

I’m glad you realized you deserve better, my friend.”

– LadySygerrik

While some of them were incredibly funny and unforgivable, like not cleaning up the kitchen properly or finishing the rest of the pizza, there were also other things, like public humiliation, that obviously weren’t forgivable to everyone in the comments section.
