Death of a 90s punk rocker leaves fans and friends stunned

Fans, friends and followers took to social media after news of the death of Carl Bevan, former drummer of popular 90s rock band 60ftDolls, broke.

The 51-year-old’s cause of death was not disclosed and his followers were shocked by his loss.

“An incredible drummer, an insanely talented artist, the biggest troublemaker and an all-around good guy,” Ginge Knievil wrote on X, formerly Twitter. “RIP Carl Bevan, you will be greatly missed. My sincere thoughts are with your family and close friends.”

“Sad to hear the news about Carl Bevan,” wrote Owen Pritchard on X. “The 60ft Dolls were one of the best to come out of Newport and his paintings are fabulous. His of the Murenger pub in Newport hangs on my kitchen wall. I accidentally photographed him at the Manics gig when his adorable poncho caught my eye.”

There were many more such posts on the social media platform.

The 60ft Dolls were so popular that they played alongside bands like Oasis and the Sex Pistols and even played at the Glastonbury Festival in 1998 before splitting up. according to BBC.

Bevan was the band’s drummer during their five-year run, during which time the 60ft Dolls released three albums and two EPs.

The BBC said that The band has also “shared with the Foo Fighters and Iggy Pop” and played at several other popular festivals.

The website states that after retiring from music, Bevan turned to landscape painting.
