Deleted scene from Deadpool and Wolverine hints at Channing Tatum’s Gambit future in the MCU – Comic book adaptations and news about superhero films

A deleted scene from Deadpool and Wolverine hints at a larger role for Channing Tatum’s Gambit in the MCU.

Deadpool & Wolverine hit US theaters in July 2024. In the Marvel Studios film directed by Shawn Levy, Tatum finally plays the role of Gambit, a character he has wanted to portray for many years.

What happens in the Deadpool and Wolverine deleted scene?

Ryan Reynolds, who plays Wade Wilson in the film, shared a deleted scene from Deadpool & Wolverine that confirms that Gambit survived the battle in the Void. In addition, at the end of the scene, an interdimensional portal opens in the reflection of the X-Men character’s eyes.

This means that Gambit has presumably left the Void and could now be somewhere in the Marvel multiverse, leaving open the possibility of a return in future projects.

Reynolds noted, “A version of this sequence is seen in the film and is played on one of the monitors in the background of the TVA.”

Although Tatum has been trying to get a Gambit solo film off the ground for many years, he has been vocal about his hopes that his role in Deadpool & Wolverine could finally make his dream a reality.

He also loudly expressed his gratitude to Reynolds for finally allowing him to play the role.

Shortly after the film’s release, Tatum wrote in an Instagram post: “I thought I had lost Gambit forever. But (Reynolds) fought for me and Gambit. I’ll probably owe him forever. Because I’m not sure how I could ever do anything that could match what that meant to me. I love you buddy. So does Shawn Levy. Truly such a brilliant creator on every single level. Everything happens for a reason. I’m so grateful to be in this film.”

Deadpool & Wolverine is now in US theaters.
