Delma Montego Chronograph Ice Blue 100-Year LE

With a 100-year history as a watchmaker, Delma has a rich history behind it. To honor this momentous occasion, Delma has released a new ice blue limited edition of its robust Montego. Known for its robustness, this automatic chronograph features a highly reliable automatic chronograph movement and a bold and powerful look. It fits well with the brand’s history, as it has been making chronographs since the mid-1940s. Let’s take a closer look at this fun and well-equipped Delma Montego Chronograph Automatic 100 Year Limited Edition.

The Montego features a robust stainless steel case measuring 42mm in diameter and 16.2mm in height. It is fitted with a fixed stainless steel bezel with an engraved tachymeter scale in black and red. This provides a tone-on-tone look at one end but also adds a nice contrast with the black engraved scale against the brushed stainless steel. The straight lugs give it a striking and robust look, which is backed up by a water resistance of 200 meters. The case is nestled between two sapphire crystals and fitted with a screw-down crown and pump pushers with knurled rings.

The dial is pretty much the only thing that’s changed on this version of the Delma Montego, but it’s a pretty drastic change, at least aesthetically. The black, blue, green, or silver dial is gone, replaced by a fresh sunray-brushed ice blue. This makes the Montego a watch that immediately draws attention and has a fresh, summery touch. Due to its finish, the dial is quite vibrant in sunlight, but has lost none of its legibility. The elapsed and time indications are still very clear, with applied markers and hands with Super-LumiNova, black rings for the subdials, and contrasting black discs for the day and date.

Beneath the sapphire crystal caseback is the Sellita SW500 automatic chronograph, a clone of the legendary Valjoux 7750. The SW500 has now more than earned its merits, having proven to be as reliable and efficient as the movement it is based on. It runs at a speed of 28,800 vibrations per hour and has a running time of 48 hours when fully wound by the Delma rotor. In addition to the central hours and minutes, it displays the small seconds and has a chronograph function divided between a central chronograph seconds hand and 30-minute and 12-hour counters, as well as day and date.

Delma equips the new ice blue Montego Chronograph Automatic with the same stainless steel bracelet as its non-limited edition siblings. Only 100 pieces will be made, at a price that is surprisingly slightly lower than the rest; EUR 2,727.95 (compared to EUR 2,750.00 on the bracelet). So a chance to have a fresh new look for a little less than usual? We’re all OK with that!
