Cameron County Sheriff’s officials made several arrests this week after responding to various incidents.

Trespassing
On Friday, August 9, 2024, Cameron County Sheriff’s officers responded to a call from near San Benito regarding a verbal disturbance that resulted in an arrest for trespassing.

According to the Cameron County Sheriff’s Office (CCSO), upon arrival, sheriff’s officers made contact with a complainant who claimed that Uriel Romero came to her residence and began arguing with her. The complainant told officers that Romero had been warned many times before that he was not welcome on the property.

The Cameron County Sheriff’s Office dispatch confirmed that the suspect received a trespassing citation on July 13, 2024. Cameron County Sheriff’s deputies immediately arrested Romero for trespassing, TPC: 5/30.

Romero was transported to the Cameron County Carrizales Rucker Detention Center in Olmito where he was arrested on the charges.

ALLEGED VIOLATION
In another incident, a Los Fresnos man was arrested earlier this month for allegedly violating a restraining order.

According to a CCSO report, on Wednesday, August 7, 2024, Cameron County Sheriff’s officers responded to a call to a residence in the 31000 block of FM 2893 in Los Fresnos regarding a possible violation of a notice of protection.

A concerned citizen reported that a male perpetrator, 38-year-old Hijinio Moreno, was present at the residence of the person under the protection order.

Upon arrival, deputies made contact with Moreno and the person protected by the emergency order. Deputies confirmed that the emergency order was still in effect and arrested Moreno. Deputies determined that he had allegedly violated the protection order by remaining within 200 feet of the person named in the order.

Deputies arrested Moreno and transported him to the Cameron County Carrizales Rucker Detention Center in Olmito where he was booked for arraignment. Moreno is charged with Bail Bond Violation/Protection Order Violation under TPC 25.07: a Class “A” Misdemeanor.
