Saint Albans – Diane Lynn Read, a lifelong resident of the area, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, August 18, 2024, at UVM Medical Center surrounded by her family.
She was born on April 23, 1948 in St. Albans to the late Philip Euclid and Jean J. (Duda) Remillard. Diane was 76 years old.
On June 16, 2023, Diane married Jeremy Read, who survives her.
Diane graduated from St. Mary’s High School in 1966 and went on to complete her undergraduate degree at the University of Vermont. She had the honor of being Miss Swanton at their pageant, Miss Teen Vermont, an at-large candidate for Miss Teen USA, was crowned queen at Eastern States in Springfield, Massachusetts, and during her professional career was known as a buyer for Magram’s Department Store and as a hostess at the Old Foundry Restaurant.
Her survivors include her husband Jeremy, her stepson Geoffrey Read, her brother Philip Remillard and his wife Theresa, Lynn Moore and her husband Ellsworth, and Darlene Burke.
Diane is also survived by her nephew and godson, Tyler Thibault and his wife Jenna, her nieces Lauren Stefanski and her husband Dan, Stacy Burke Schroeder and her husband David, Christy Burke, Jeremy and Theanna Duell, and several great-nieces and nephews.
Diane was preceded in death by her nephew Christian Hunter Remillard.
At Diane’s request, the ceremonies will be held privately and in the comfort of her family.
