Diaspora Ministry launches monitoring system for online anti-Semitism

The Ministry of Diaspora Affairs and Combating Anti-Semitism presented on Sunday a monitoring system aimed at monitoring anti-Semitic dialogues on the Internet.

The system will use multiple sources to classify anti-Semitic discourse worldwide, including that appearing on social media platforms such as X (formerly Twitter), Telegram, Facebook, YouTube and TikTok.

The ministry pointed out that monitoring in the first phase will be carried out in English, French, Arabic and Hebrew.

The system is intended to serve as a source of information for various Israeli government agencies, national institutions and civil organizations that combat anti-Semitism on the Internet.

Reporting on anti-Semitic events

The ministry also stated that the system aims to create a real-time picture of the extent of anti-Semitism and to disseminate reports on the main perpetrators and areas where anti-Semitism occurs.

An operating room will manage ongoing events, which will then be handled by the relevant ministries.

Civilians and organizations around the world can report anti-Semitic incidents to the system, strengthening the connection to the diaspora.

Minister of Diaspora Affairs and Combating Anti-Semitism Amichai Chikli said of the program: “Since the start of Operation Iron Swords, we have seen a sharp increase in the volume of anti-Semitic discourse on social media. This morning, after months of hard work, we launched the National Command Center for Combating Anti-Semitism, which will help unite the efforts of all entities working in this field. This step represents a significant milestone in the State of Israel’s fight against anti-Semitism.”
