Whether your type is Marcello Mastroianni, Anita Ekberg or Anouk Aimée (or all three!), follow in the footsteps of Federico Fellini’s biggest stars and find your own Version of The Dolce Vita at the EDITION Hotel in Rome.

Conceived and planned by Ian Schrager, the visionary entrepreneur and hotelier who gave us Studio 54, and executed and interpreted by the Statuto Group, the property is EDITION’s first in Italy and marks an exciting new chapter in the luxury brand’s expansion.

Built in the 1940s and formerly used as a bank, the building stands just a lira’s throw from Via Veneto, the street immortalized by Fellini’s iconic film. Imagine Marcello Mastroianni, in a dark suit and sunglasses, drinking, smoking and looking fabulous as he strolls past lively night-time cafes and picks up a lagging Nico.

In the hotel lobby, dramatic 22-foot ceilings and white fabric sofas welcome weary travelers and locals alike. Play pool at a custom-made table or linger at one of the two ground-floor bars—the speakeasy-inspired Punch Room and the Jade Room, an intimate mixology hangout—while practicing your Italian and ordering many aperitifs (a Negroni, as desired).

The 93 guest rooms, including 17 suites and two penthouse suites, exude an unmistakable Italian style. Custom-made beds in light Canaletto walnut stand next to Peperino stone bedside tables and beige leather-covered chairs. In the bathroom, visitors can expect Carrara marble sinks, brushed brass elements and EDITION’s signature Le Labo products.

Upstairs, the rooftop offers views of some of Rome’s most iconic landmarks, including the Pantheon, the Acqua Paola fountain and the Basilica of Sant’Andrea della Valle. A large bar area serving cocktails with local citrus notes and dishes inspired by the Italian Mediterranean coast is the perfect end to a day of sightseeing and shopping, as is a dip in the elegant travertine plunge pool.

The hotel’s crown jewel, however, is Amina, a ground-floor restaurant with a private garden that offers an all-day menu of light snacks and delicious dinners. With a cascade of jasmine climbing over the façade and Italian-style lanterns decorating the space, the restaurant feels almost timeless; here you could imagine really meeting Mastroianni’s character, with his sunglasses intact and his demeanor still at the forefront.

At the Rome EDITION, this magic is easy to achieve. Additional EDITION houses are planned in Como and Milan, making them the perfect trio for your next Italian vacation. Andiamo!
