We are releasing a complete schedule for Disney World hotel and park renovations in 2024.
The Walt Disney World Resort in Orlando, Florida is a sprawling 27,000-acre property that is home to both resorts and theme parks. With so much land, there are so many different places and attractions that certainly need some love and care from time to time. But love and care can sometimes derail our vacation plans. That’s true, sometimes you inevitably come across a tourist attraction or hotel that is undergoing renovations, which can spoil your trip.
Renovations and closures of the Magic Kingdom
- Peter Pan’s Flight: Closed for renovations until August 20, 2024
- Jungle Cruise: Closed for renovations on August 26, 2024.
- Frontierland Shooter Arcade: Permanently closed on June 24, 2024
In early July, Peter Pan’s Flight closed for six weeks of renovations, with a reopening scheduled for August 21, 2024. Jungle Cruise will also close for renovations on August 26, 2024. No reopening date has been announced at this time, but Disney has said it will reopen before the holidays (when it will become Jingle Cruise).
Renovations and closures at Disney’s Hollywood Studios

- Rock’n’Roll rollercoaster: Closed from January 8, 2024 to July 26, 2024
- Journey of the Little Mermaid: Reopening as “The Little Mermaid – A Musical Adventure” in autumn 2024
The Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster will be closed for extended renovations from early 2024 through the summer and will reopen on July 27, 2024. The ride was also closed for a similar length of time in 2023. Disney also announced that The Little Mermaid – A Musical Adventure will officially replace Voyage of the Little Mermaid when it opens in fall 2024.
Renovations and closures of Disney’s Animal Kingdom
- It’s hard being a bug: Closure will be announced, new Zootopia Opening winter 2025
- DINOSAUR: Closure will be announced
- DinoLand, USA: Closure will be announced
BOLO for It’s Tough to Be a Bug to eventually finish it and eventually turn it into “Zootopia: Better Zoogether!”, which will open in its place in winter 2025. This was originally announced at Destination D23 2023, the date was announced at D23: The Ultimate Fan Event 2024. Also, a new Indiana Jones The new attraction will come in 2027 in place of DINOSAUR. The first phase of construction on the new site will begin in fall 2024, but it is unclear how long the attraction will be available during that time. Likewise, DinoLand, USA will be converted into the new Pueblo Esperanza expansion, featuring an Encanto attraction, quick-service restaurants, and more. This too will open in 2027 and will go through several phases of construction.
Renovations and closures of EPCOT
Luminous The Symphony of Us and World Celebration officially debuted in December 2023, and EPCOT’s transformation was completed with the opening of CommuniCore Hall and CommuniCore Plaza on June 10, 2024. In the meantime, Test Track is closed for an indefinite period as it undergoes a new look.
Renovations and closures of water parks
- Blizzard Beach: Closed for renovations in summer/early autumn
- Typhoon Lagoon: Opened on March 17, 2024
Each year, Disney World’s two water parks alternate opening times to allow the other park to complete scheduled renovations. Blizzard Beach had its last day of the season on March 16, 2024, and Typhoon Lagoon reopened the next day.

- Fantasia Pool: Closed from January 2025 to April 2025

Disney’s BoardWalk Inn
- Cake Bakery: Opening 2024
- Resort Renovations: Disney’s BoardWalk Inn and Villas is currently undergoing renovations. The lobby and guest rooms are being remodeled. Guests may hear or see construction, but not between dusk and 9 a.m.
Disney’s Caribbean beach resort
- Barbados Leisure Pool: Closed from 29 July to the end of September 2024
Disney’s contemporary resort
Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort & Campgrounds
Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa
- Resort Renovations: Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa is currently undergoing renovations to remodel the lobby and guest rooms. Guests may hear or see construction, but not between dusk and 9:00 a.m.
- Disney’s Grand Floridian Convention Center: Not available from summer 2025 to autumn 2025
Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort
- Island Tower: Opening on December 17, 2024. A new DVC tower is currently being built between the Polynesian and the Wedding Pavilion at the neighboring Grand Floridian. Guests may hear or see the construction, but not between dusk and 9:00 a.m.
Disney’s Port Orleans French Quarter
- Room renovations: From May 2024 to November 2024, some guest rooms will be renovated.
Disney’s Wilderness Lodge
- Boulder Ridge Villas: The exterior renovation will be carried out from April to December 2024. Guests may therefore observe construction work during this time.
Disney World Transportation Renovations and Closures
- From summer 2024, no more are planned
