Donnie Wahlberg gives Blue Bloods fans hope ahead of what appears to be the final season

Donnie Wahlberg does not give up hope Blue blood – and he doesn’t want that from his fans either.

After filming for the final season was completed, Wahlberg, 54, answered some questions from fans about the possible future of the hit CBS series during a “New Kids on the Block” concert in July.

“Well, we filmed what seems to be the last season of Blue Bloods and it will be airing in October. Maybe there will be something else after that,” he revealed in a concert clip he shared. TV Insider“I don’t know anything official yet, but there are a few things in the works. So maybe something great will happen.”

Wahlberg’s comments brought cheers from the crowd, after which he added, “You know I’m still going to do something after Blue Bloods, no matter what happens.”

TV shows that were saved after being cancelled

CBS confirmed in November 2023 that Blue blood ends after season 14. The network has split the final season into two parts, with the first 10 episodes airing in February and the remaining eight episodes coming out this fall.

Blue bloodwhich premiered in 2010, follows the lives of the Reagan family, many of whom work for the NYPD under the leadership of New York Police Commissioner Frank Reagan (Tom Selleck). Frank’s father, Henry Reagan (Len Cariou), also played a central role in the show alongside Frank’s children: daughter Erin Reagan (Bridget Moynahan) and sons Danny (Wahlberg) and Jamie Reagan (Will Estes).

After news of the show’s end broke, Selleck, 79, released a statement reflecting on his departure.

Thank you to CBS Studios and the CBS network for their unwavering support, and we extend our heartfelt thanks to the fans who have gathered with us for dinner every Friday night.”

Meanwhile, Wahlberg gave an impassioned speech on the last day of filming. CBS released a video in which Wahlberg admitted that he had a hard time accepting Blue blood would not come back in the future.

“Four years ago we were in this room and neither of us knew if we would ever see each other again, for much worse reasons. Perhaps one of the worst days of my life and I’m sure in many of your lives,” he shared. “We didn’t know what was going to happen in this world and somehow we got a few more years together and God willing we’ll have even more time together to do something magical again. I would be honored to work with any of you again and I pray that can happen one way or another. I’m not going to give up. Let’s have a great night together, we damn well deserve it.”
