We go to Disney World for the snacks.
Okay, maybe we want a little more, like the rides, the entertainment, and the characters. But we have to admit, we’re also just really looking forward to the snacks. We definitely have our favorites (and we’ll be the first to tell you about them), but There is one particular snack we need to warn you about.
This snack is available at the BoardWalk Deli, located in Disney’s BoardWalk Inn.
It is a cookie called Crescent Cookieand at first glance, you might think that this is a traditional Black and White Cookie because of the black and white coloring. When it first arrived at Disney World, many people thought it was the same thing, but that’s not the case. However, both cookies are traditional in New York State.
There is actually a slight difference between this and the Black and White cookie. A Black and White cookie is a little flatter and usually has either fondant or icing on top. The cookie itself is also usually a vanilla cookie.
The Half Moon Cookie, on the other hand, has a slight dome shape on the bottom with Frosting on a sponge cake base. One side is also often covered in more frosting than the other, as you can see here. The cookie base is usually made of chocolate.
This means there is a flavor difference as the base of the Half Moon Cookie is less dense than its Black and White counterpart. This particular cookie has a very dark, chocolate-like flavor that blends well with the sweetness of the frosting. Plus, it has a cute little Mickey depicted on it.
So why are we talking about a random cookie in Disney World? Well, Emma recently set herself the challenge of doing EVERYTHING in Disney World in 100 days, and part of her challenge took her to the BoardWalk Deli! And here’s a fun fact for you – Emma is something of an expert on BoardWalk Deli; she worked here when it was still called BoardWalk Bakery.
So if you’re at BoardWalk Deli, we just want to point out that the cookie available there does not look like a black and white cookie, even though the colors are similar. Check out the rest of Emma’s day at Disney World below!
