Dooley: Recognition for the American Legion Flag Guard

Chantel Dooley | TAPS

On behalf of the Tragedy Assistance Program for Survivors, I would like to express my sincere gratitude to the American Legion Post 58 Flag Guard in Fountain Hills.

On Saturday, July 27, the Fountain Hills color guard proudly presented our nation’s colors to welcome 500 military members and veterans mourning the loss of their service members in Scottsdale, Arizona. This event was part of the 2024 Western Regional Military Survivor Seminar and Good Grief Camp organized by the Tragedy Assistance Program for Survivors (TAPS), a national nonprofit organization dedicated to providing compassionate care and comprehensive resources to anyone grieving the death of a loved one.

During the seminar, Anna Blackmon, the wife of the senior from Luke Air Force Base, sang the National Anthem while CMSgt Shaffer and Chaplain Tarr joined in honoring our fallen heroes and supporting their families. Volunteers from Luke Air Force Base welcomed the survivors and supported the event, as did volunteers from Horizon Pool Care and Dazzle Pools here in Fountain Hills. Their presence and selfless service underscore the continued dedication to our nation’s military community.

Thank you, Fountain Hills American Legion Post 58, for your volunteer service and for paying tribute to those who have served and died for our great nation.
