YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio – The DoubleTree by Hilton Youngstown Downtown hotel in the Stambaugh Building reopened Wednesday.
The Stambaugh Building has been closed since the gas explosion in the Realty Tower on May 28.
“We are very excited to welcome guests back to our historic hotel, but we also want to express our condolences and sympathy to the family of Akil Drake and all those injured and homeless who lost their homes as a result of the unfortunate explosion at the Realty Building,” George Pantelidis, president and manager of Youngstown Stambaugh Hotel LLC, the hotel’s ownership group, said in a statement.
“Just as the hotel turned on the lights in downtown Youngstown in 2018, we are now flipping the switch again to usher in a new era of downtown commerce. We have used this pause in our operations to reinvent, re-equip and regroup as a team. We reopen with fresh ideas and a renewed commitment to Youngstown and its path forward,” said Pantelidis.
The DoubleTree has been fully open to guests since Wednesday, with a full-service restaurant serving breakfast and dinner. A new restaurant concept, Casa di Canzonetta, formerly Bistro 1907, will open soon.
Additionally, the hotel is preparing to launch a new second-floor lounge concept that will open in the coming weeks. “Windows on the Square” will offer scenic views of downtown and a selection of wines, spirits and specialty drinks that celebrate Youngstown’s resilient spirit.
“We have had the honor of hosting some of life’s most beautiful events: baby showers, bridal showers, weddings, anniversaries and weekends with loved ones,” said Pantelidis. “Many of these events are both a tribute to the past and an exciting beginning of new chapters.
