Eliud Kipchoge aims for more glory in the men’s marathon

Athletics: USA wins gold with the men’s 4×400-meter relay

So it’s time for the season finale, as the noise in the stadium increases again – France is in lane eight.

USA with Ray Benjamin We are anchored on lane four, Botswana with Letsile Tebogo on track six.

Great Britain in lane seven Matt Hudson Smith runs second.

They all get away with it. Britain has already caught France on the spot.

And in six, Botswana has caught up! Botswana from Great Britain at the first change. And now the USA are coming too!

As they move inside, Botswana are in the lead. Botswana ahead of the USA and Great Britain at the second change – everything looks clean.

USA Bryce Deadmon pulls away on this third stage – but on the straight as they reach the final stage he becomes visibly tired.

Tebogo against Benjamin, Botswana against the USA! Great Britain is in third place by a long way. The noise is loud, the atmosphere is electric!

They come back for the finish straight and Benjamin is just ahead of Tebogo!

Tebogo is getting closer – but USA wins Olympic record 2:54.43! They came very close to the 31-year-old world record.

Botswana takes silver with an African record of 2:54.53, Great Britain takes bronze with a European record of 2:55.83.

There was also an Asian record for Japan with sixth place in 2:58.33.

We are waiting for the jury’s approval…
