English Dub Review: Code Geass: Rozé of the Recapture “Purple Surf”

Overview:

Unknown machines cause fear and confusion among people. This evil power includes
on Sakura.

Our opinion (spoiler):

This episode gave me some Avengers Assembling vibes. Akito and his group, as well as Suzaku, are all fighting the machines that are blending people up like smoothies. If you want to know WHY these machines are sucking people up, you might have to wait a bit. Norland has been doing his best “Char Aznable” impersonation for most of the series, but trust me, we just learned why he was wearing a mask, and that was quite a reveal. I’m going to throw out a little spoiler warning here, because the direction the series is going in here might rub some people the wrong way.

Norland was created as a clone of Charles zi Britannia, who was basically the main villain of the original series. If there is anyone who knows complex machinations down to the smallest detail, it is this man. Between everything he has learned about CC and all the different Geass, not to mention the fact that he was able to outsmart Lelouch a few times, he is perhaps the smartest anime character I have ever seen. My biggest concern with this series now is whether it can hold up to the end, because Code Geass has one of the best anime endings of all time and while I wouldn’t mind more of the same, I hope they don’t spoil the ending.

I’m an aspiring writer who loves anime, manga, and most of otaku culture. I’ve long wanted a platform to discuss and utilize my expertise, so here I am! When I’m not writing, you can usually find me watching anime or walking my dog.
