“Escape From Tarkov” wipe likely coming this week after new event

The second pre-wipe event in Escape from Tarkov has been launched and appears to have removed the flea market, suggesting that the next wipe is only a few days away.

The new event, which is already on the Escape from Tarkov Social media accounts earlier today ahead of the launch, removed access to the Flea Market, the player-to-player sales hub, and it looks like rare loot spawns have been significantly improved and more premium items are being given out.

The teaser image shows a crate full of Ledx, suggesting that the event has something to do with rare loot. Players are reporting that loot spawns in labs and some marked rooms have been improved, offering plenty of premium loot. From some limited testing I’ve done myself, it appears that a lot of loose loot spawns, those that aren’t in containers, have been improved, meaning there are plenty of items out there to find. But since there’s no flea market to sell them at, a lot of it could be pretty useless.

Of course, the previous event from yesterday is still active, with all hideout upgrades only being craftable for beer and higher skills. But the same restriction applies, as the event only runs in the PvP version of the game and not the PvE version.

Since this event starts only 24 hours after the previous one, it is currently assumed that the next Escape from Tarkov Wipe will start on August 15th, so there is still time for another event tomorrow before the wipe comes. The Fire Sale event is expected to take place tomorrow, where all items from vendors will cost one ruble, and then the game will go offline on August 15th while the new Tarkov Wipe and patch are installed. Of course, there is no guarantee of this until Battlestate Games makes an official announcement, but at the moment all signs point to the next Tarkov wipe starting on August 15th.

When the new wipe comes, it will bring with it a ton of new toys for all players. There are new weapons, including the recently revealed Deagle, a revamped factory map, and likely a new boss that will hunt you down and has tripwires in its arsenal. As with all wipes, your progress will be reset and your entire inventory will be destroyed, but everyone is in the same boat so it’s a level playing field. If you’re in PvE mode, your account won’t be deleted, but the new content will still be added.
