Evacuation order lifted for southern Chilcotin confluence area

The evacuation area along the Chilcotin River has been updated by the Cariboo Regional District Emergency Operations Centre.

An evacuation order for the southern Chilcotin Estuary area has been lifted by the Cariboo Regional District (CRD) Emergency Operations Centre.

An evacuation order remains in effect for a smaller area; the CRD refers to Chilcotin River Landslide Area 3 and the Chilcotin River Landslide Area Order on its map.

Residents are now permitted to return to any part of the area where an evacuation was originally ordered. For information on re-entering the area after an evacuation, see the CRD Guide to Re-entering the Area After an Evacuation.

An interactive map of the area can be found on the CRD website. The CRD article on the order can also be found on the CRD website.

Ongoing landslide and river assessments are being conducted in the region. The CRD advises people returning to the area not to disturb monitoring activities and to be aware of the risk of further landslides or flooding.

For information about the Cariboo Regional District, visit the Cariboo Regional District website, the Emergency Operations Centre’s Facebook page, its Twitter/X feed, or call the CRD’s emergency information line at 1-866-759-4977 (open 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. daily).
