The full moon in August is more than just an ordinary moon!
That’s because this month’s full moon, nicknamed the Sturgeon Moon, will be both a rare blue moon and a supermoon when it rises into the summer night sky on August 19, 2024, at 11:25 a.m. PT.
Lovers of the moon and astrology can rejoice, because this celestial phenomenon not only creates a spectacular glow when the moon is at its highest position, but also has great astrological significance.
First and foremost, PEOPLE astrologer Kyle Thomas says the energy of August’s full moon in Aquarius will “infuse our lives,” especially because the air sign is the eleventh sign in the zodiac and represents the polarity of Leo.

“This means that both signs are connected to our passions, our sense of expression, our aspirations and the way we interact with others, whether in love or friendship,” he says, adding that the element of the supermoon makes the energy feel “a little more intense” compared to typical full moons.
In addition, there will also be a blue moon – an additional full moon in a season. Thomas says: “We may find that situations feel more emotional this summer and many important events are coming up.”
Finally, the August full moon will reach its peak almost exactly one month before the upcoming lunar eclipse on September 18, 2024. Thomas predicts that “messages destined to arrive” around the upcoming eclipse “may be delivered earlier.”

Are you in the media, publishing, law or academia? In this case, Thomas predicts: “A turning point is upon you.”
Cancer (June 21 – July 22)
Intimacy and how much you trust others are in focus at this time, Cancer. “You might find that you and someone you’re connected to need to discuss some serious plans for the future,” Thomas predicts.
“If you’re not happy, you might break up or be working out the final details of a settlement,” he says. “If you’re on the same page, you might feel ready to grow closer together physically, mentally and emotionally.”
Thomas adds: “Assets and investments are also important at this time – so buy or sell or expect a major turnaround.”
Leo (July 23 – August 22)
A profound moment of connection awaits you, Leo! “Partnership is the focus right now,” says Thomas.
The full moon will “make you bond more tightly to each other like magnets,” he explains – or rather the opposite: “You will be torn apart like a firecracker.” He adds: “Happy connections will lead to a union, a commitment, an engagement or even marriage.”

Libra (September 23 – October 22)

“When the full moon rises in the sky, you might feel like you’ve found the mysterious pot of gold at the end of the rainbow,” he says. “This is the most important phase of the moon for singles to get out there and meet people, set up dates and see if they’re your heartstrings.”
Thomas says: “Couples can use this mood to add more spice to their relationship. Creativity and fertility are also in the foreground during this time.”
Scorpio (October 23-November 21)
Let’s get to it, Scorpio. “Home, family, and domestic concerns are at the top of your list,” says Thomas.
