FedEx customer warns of fraud after receiving a package she did not order

A FedEx customer warned her viewers on TikTok about a scam after she received a small package she did not order.

In a viral video with over 3.7 million views, content creator Tammy (thefoxypineapple) shared how she escaped a scam and thanked TikTok for alerting her.

“I just got a scam in the mail and if it weren’t for TikTok, I would have totally fallen for it,” she said, holding a small package.

Tammy went on to tell a story about how one day a FedEx employee was standing at her doorstep waiting for a signature so she could receive a package.

However, she did not order anything and was not expecting any packages. “I don’t expect anything,” she said. “I track all my purchases. I know nothing is coming to my house.”

Although she was suspicious, Tammy signed and accepted the package. When she opened it, she found a makeup brush wrapped in plastic with a QR code attached. “Normally I would ask, ‘What is this?’, grab my phone and scan it,” she said.

But a video she recently watched from another TikToker made her realize it might be a scam. “She said, ‘If you scan it, all of your phone’s information is in there and your phone has just been hacked,'” Tammy said.

“So if you receive something you didn’t order and it has a QR code on it, don’t scan it,” she warned her viewers. “Don’t give them your personal information, just throw it in the trash like I’m about to do.”

Many commenters thanked the content creator for the tip and said they had never heard of this email scam before.
