Justin Rose almost shatters approach with 66 shot
Rose nearly made a slam-dunk eagle on the par-4 17th hole on Friday, but he made the birdie putt, shot his second consecutive 66 and finished 8 under par, three shots behind the leader.
Hideki Matsuyama a birdie machine in Memphis
Matsuyama has made 14 birdies and just three bogeys in two rounds, putting him in a tie for the lead with Denny McCarthy, who has been dealing with some pain this week:
Scottie Scheffler keeps pace while Xander Schauffele falters
Scheffler followed his 66 with a 65 and is now 9 under par for the tournament, two shots behind the leader. Schauffele had five birdies, two bogeys and a double in a score of 69. He is 5 under par and outside the top 10.
Denny McCarthy and Viktor Hovland want to secure places at BMW
McCarthy is taking no chances on losing his spot in next year’s major events. He is currently ranked 45th in the FEC points standings, but when he signed his card he shot 63 in Round 2 to move into first place.
Hovland, last year’s FEC champion, also shot a 63. He entered the week ranked 57th and is currently in the top five of the tournament.

Viktor Hovland, who has struggled for most of the season, shot 5 under 30 in round 2 to reach 5 under par, three strokes behind the current leader.
