Fire breaks out in Dallas Cowboys training camp hotel

A fire broke out at the hotel where the Dallas Cowboys are staying during their training camp in Oxnard, California on Tuesday (August 20), the team confirmed in a statement on its official website.

The fire broke out in a guest room while players and coaches were on a tour several hundred meters away. Several employees reported the fire when they noticed smoke rising from the unoccupied building.

“This afternoon, there was a fire emergency in one of the guest rooms at the team’s hotel in Oxnard, California. The emergency was confined to a room that was vacant at the time and there were no injuries. The Dallas Cowboys thank the Oxnard Fire Department and Police Department for their quick response to the situation,” the Cowboys said in a statement released at 6:10 p.m. PT.

The cause of the fire was not determined at the time of the Cowboys’ statement. The team completed its afternoon walk-through without interruption and is scheduled to hold its final practice in protective gear in Oxnard on Wednesday (August 21) before returning to Dallas on Thursday afternoon (August 22) before playing its final preseason game against the Los Angeles Chargers at AT&T Stadium on Saturday (August 24).
