FIRST ATTEMPT! The huge success of Teeb Con

From a backyard with 80 people to a packed convention over a weekend, Teeb Con has completed the final day of its first ever convention.

Teeb con starts with great success when it moved to over 2500 tickets sold only this weekend. People from all over the country and the North came to Duluth to celebrate and meet. Many of the previous convention attendees praised the success.

“Yeah. And the con was pretty nice for a first year. I think they did a really good job. I think the events have a pretty bright future ahead of them,” said voice actor Jarrod Greene. Local artists and vendors filled the DECC with plenty of activities on both days.

Voices cheer for the community

A local business and exhibitor, Dice Mugs, told us how much they enjoyed having a convention closer to home.

“We’re really excited that the community of Duluth can finally offer this service to this group of people, that people from the Iron Range area of northern Minnesota can come to a show that’s much closer to home and, you know, serves this underserved community.”

Many celebrities from the entertainment industry came to show their support and meet fans of their work. From local comic book artists to actors who voice the characters in the popular shows, Jarrod Greene continued.

“I’m not used to seeing myself as someone that strangers say, ‘Oh, I want to meet that guy.’ And so it’s an interesting change of perspective to be one of the people who come here to see.”

Giving something back

Well-known Star Wars actors Martin Klebba and Leilani Shiu expressed their support for the convention’s focus on giving back, with the majority of the event’s proceeds going to local charities supporting children and families.

“This one in particular is raising money. And it’s for the children’s hospital, and I think that’s great. Especially that I’m involved in Star Wars. I’m very involved. So, I love raising money. And especially for the children. It means a lot to me.

And since Martin and I are still little, we like to give something back. So we know what it’s like to grow up, to be little. You know how our parents dealt with medical issues or what it was like to give a speech for different things. So we know what that’s like. So, for me, for Martin and me, it’s great to give something back. Right, Martin? Yes.”

Many of the event’s organizers are optimistic about the future and hope to continue this convention for many years to come. Madeleine Morris, a voice actress, expressed that the community is not the only one who wants Teeb Con to continue.

“I’ve been to a handful of brand new first-year shows. Everything’s going incredibly well here. It will come back, and with any luck, I will too.”
