FirstEnergy releases updated restoration times, over 30,000 without power

CLEVELAND, Ohio (WOIO) – FirstEnergy announced in a news release Sunday afternoon that power should be restored earlier than originally planned on August 14.

RELATED STORY: Due to severe weather, events in Northeast Ohio are cancelled and trees and power lines are falling

The press release said that thanks to the storm’s more than 7,500 emergency responders, customers’ power could be restored much more quickly and that for a small number of customers in areas with major damage, it could even take up to a second week.

More than 30,000 people were left in the dark on Sunday morning. Energy companies described this as a “historic” power outage following Tuesday’s storms.
