FIVB President receives CAVB Order of Merit and is named CAVB Honorary President – ​​FIVB

FIVB President Dr. Ary S. Graça F° was today awarded the Gold Order of Merit of the African Volleyball Confederation (CAVB) and named Honorary President of the CAVB for his immense contribution to the development of volleyball in Africa.

The CAVB’s highest award and prestigious title was presented by CAVB President Bouchra Hajij on behalf of the African volleyball family, with the FIVB President receiving a standing ovation from the CAVB Congress delegates.

CAVB President Bouchra Hajij highlighted the important role of President Dr. Ary S. Graça F° in the development of volleyball across the continent, saying:

“On behalf of all members of the CAVB, I am delighted to present FIVB President Ary Graça with the highest CAVB Order of Merit for his exceptional work during his 12-year presidency within the FIVB and here in Africa. Even though your FIVB presidency is coming to an end, we will continue to need your support and leadership here in Africa. Therefore, we would also like to appoint you as Honorary President of the CAVB so that you can continue to share your wisdom with the African volleyball family.”

In his acceptance speech, FIVB President Dr. Ary S. Graça F° said:

“I am very honoured to receive such prestigious nominations from the African volleyball family. We have already done tremendous work here in Africa and can already see some results. I am sure that in the coming years more African countries will rise in both volleyball and beach volleyball! I believe in Africa! You are in my heart!”

In addition, the FIVB President received special gifts from Raharimalala Léa, President of the Malagasy Volleyball Federation, and from Aida Ismail Othman from Egypt for his incredible support in the development of volleyball in Africa and around the world.
