An Instagram user shared a video of herself baking sourdough bread on her way to Spain. She wanted to surprise her sister with a fresh loaf of bread, so the process was done thousands of feet above the ground.
Her video, which has been viewed over 1.2 million times, was disliked by many social media users, some of whom claimed to be flight attendants who were less than impressed with the passenger’s efforts.
“I’m a flight attendant and I hate people like you,” one user posted on Instagram.
“As a flight attendant, I will say: yuck. On the last flight, an unhygienic passenger cut his toenails at this table and another puked on it. Needless to say, the armrest you touch also had the unwashed hands of some guys from the restroom on it. Another woman changed the baby’s diaper because she felt the bathroom wasn’t ‘hygienic’ enough. I’ve seen it all – believe me. And now there you are, kneading and folding sourdough. Enjoy your sprouted bread. This is a plane – not a bakery. Learn some manners, guys… please,” wrote another.
“Looks really cute but please don’t do it on airplanes, it’s a really closed place and a celiac patient could get poisoning, the flour can easily ‘fly’ and spread. I know there is HEPA on the plane but it doesn’t work immediately so please avoid doing it in closed public places if you don’t want to spoil someone’s few days of vacation,” wrote another.

“This is inconsiderate of all the people on the plane who are allergic to wheat and/or gluten. If I was sitting next to you, I would immediately ask for a new seat and a full refund because just inhaling the flour would make me sick for several weeks. Please be more considerate next time,” said another.
“This is gross. Airplanes are crawling with germs, even in the recirculated cabin air. No matter how many times you get up to wash your hands, you’ve caught those germs again before you get back to your seat,” another user wrote.
