Flight attendant reveals how to board a plane “very cautiously and very carefully”

A video of a flight attendant demonstrating how to board a plane in a “modest” manner has gone viral on TikTok.

The clip was posted by flight attendant Michael (@flywithhotboymike) and has garnered more than 2.4 million views since it was posted on August 15. A caption accompanying the post reads: “This is how to board a plane in a modest manner.”

The flight attendant rolls a suitcase down the aisle of an empty airplane. He says, “See me entering the airplane? I’m stepping out of the aisle,” while standing in a space between the rows of seats. As he puts the suitcase in the overhead bin, he says, “I’m taking my luggage. I’m putting it in the overhead bin. I’m not asking the flight attendant to do that.”

“I put it in the tray and turn it on its side so we can use all the available space. Very understated, very attentive, very cute,” the flight attendant says with a smile, alluding to the hilarious viral TikTok trend that has taken the internet by storm.

The cabin crew member’s post comes at a time when travel is expected to reach “record highs” this year: global tourism spending is expected to reach $2 trillion by 2023, according to a December 2023 survey by market research firm Euromonitor International.

According to a July report by the International Air Transport Association (IATA), total passenger demand increased by 9.1 percent in June compared to the same month in 2023.

What is the “very low key, very mindful” trend?

The trend refers to the use of the terms “very low key” and “very mindful,” which are becoming increasingly popular on social media. A viral video shared by TikTok user Jools Lebron (@joolieannie) earlier this month shows the poster saying, “How to be low key, humble and respectful in the workplace.”

In the clip, which has been viewed 35 million times since it was posted on August 5, the TikTok poster can be seen looking into the camera and saying: “See how I do my makeup for work? Very low-key, very attentive…

“I don’t look like a clown when I go to work. I don’t do too much and I pay a lot of attention to my work. See, I look very presentable. The way I came to the interview is the way I go to work,” Lebron continues.

When asked what “low key” actually means, LeBron told CBS on Monday: “Your low key is what it means to you. It means being mindful and considerate of the people around you, but also of yourself and the way you present yourself to the world.”

The viral trend even reached the White House, which referenced the words in a post about student debt on August 16. It was shared after the U.S. Department of Education asked the Supreme Court to lift its block on President Joe Biden’s student loan repayment plan.

He shared a photo of Biden sitting at a desk and smiling, with the caption: “Cancel the student debt of nearly 5 million Americans through a variety of measures. Very mindful. Very low-key.”
