In a video on her TikTok page, Wizz Air stewardess Ioana explained: “Did you know that your flight attendant doesn’t just greet you out of politeness…

“But also to check whether you are too drunk or too sick to fly.”

“Did you know?” Ioana captioned her video.

In the accompanying clip, she can be seen greeting guests on the plane with a big smile, looking elegant and professional in her Wizz Air uniform.

“I didn’t know that before, but now I know,” one person commented on the video.

Another added: “I knew I wasn’t crazy when I thought they were looking at you a little too long when saying hello!”

“I just thought they counted,” said a third.

“I always knew they were scanning!” commented someone else.

“Watching… Always watching…!!!” laughed another.

“I thought it was to make them seem approachable,” someone mused.

“Haha, I thought it was for checking boarding passes,” said another.

Someone else wrote: “I feel like they are always staring and judging!”

To which another flight attendant replied: “We do!”

Others said that the flight attendants’ greetings were specifically designed to find out whether passengers were afraid of the flight.

“Someone saw a child crying and invited him to the pilot to reassure him that everything would be okay,” wrote one.

“Don’t judge me if I board the plane with bloodshot eyes,” wrote another.

Airplane etiquette

If you are planning a trip soon, you must follow these unwritten rules of airplane etiquette…

RECLINING SEAT: Podcast host and etiquette expert Nick Leighton explained that you should not recline your seat if the passenger behind you is working on their laptop.

He said: “Nobody likes to have their laptop broken in half.”

Before you move your seat back, it is best to check what the passenger behind you is doing.

If your child is using a laptop, ask before moving your seat back.

FEET: A flight attendant told The Sun: “Your boarding pass will have a number and a letter on it. This is the reserved seat you paid for.”

“Your feet, which are connected to your body, should do their best to stay in that space and away from everyone else.

“If you insist on stretching, please make sure your feet are covered.”

CHAT-T: TV travel expert Samantha Brown explained that conversations with strangers are not welcome and said that others should not expect conversation either.

She added: “I’m not a chatterbox. The time on the plane belongs to me.”

“I’m so scared of flying that I cry hysterically just before I get on the plane!”

“And to see if you’re okay – I always come in crying and hyperventilating because I’m scared of taking off, and you always help me!”

“I had such a sweet child this month who noticed that I was very anxious,” commented another.

“She talked to me about everything and said that if I needed her, all I had to do was press the button – it was so nice.”

And hilariously, some people said they thought the greeting was because the flight attendant was flirting with them.

“All this time I thought she liked me,” one wrote.

“I’m disappointed that I thought they were flirting with me,” sighed another.

“And I thought they liked me,” said a third.

“No, they are definitely checking me out,” someone else explained confidently.
