Key findings

  • Ford introduces the traditional color Brittany Blue for the Mustang 60th Anniversary Package.
  • The new special edition in Brittany Blue paint is only available with a fastback body and 10-speed automatic transmission.
  • Prices start at $65,245 and availability is very limited.

The Ford Mustang will celebrate its 60th birthday in 2024, and to mark the occasion, the Blue Oval has released a beautiful Mustang Anniversary Package available in three colors. Now, the automaker is adding a fourth color. Brittany Blue, a traditional color from Ford’s past, is now available to Mustang customers, but they’d better hurry—this special Mustang is only available in limited quantities.

In contrast to the other colors – which are available in Coupé And Convertible Body Styles – Brittany Blue is available exclusively with fastback bodywork and 10-speed automatic transmission. The 60th Anniversary Brittany Blue Edition features numerous performance-enhancing features including an Active-Valve Performance exhaust, Brembo brakes and a 3.55 limited-slip rear axle.

Some elements are exclusive to the 60th Anniversary Package. For example, anniversary badges appear on the trunk and fenders. Ford notes that they are modeled after the cloisonné badges on the 1965 Mustang. 20-inch wheels painted Dark Gravity Gray feature machined details, and the Vermillon Red aluminum hubcaps are also inspired by the hubcaps on the original Mustang.

“Mustang has been successful for 60 years by taking risks and offering its customers something a little different, a little more special than anywhere else. By releasing a color like this, we are giving our customers a chance to stand out even among the select ranks of Mustang 60th Anniversary owners.”

– Joe Bellino, Mustang Brand Manager

What makes the 60th Anniversary Package so special?

The 60th Anniversary Package also includes a model-specific grille with a sporty mesh design. Silver-colored nostrils are both distinctive and functional, directing cool air toward the 5.0-liter Coyote V8. To match the front end, the Mustang also gets tinted headlight clusters, making the nostrils stand out even more. On Brittany Blue (and Race Red and Vapor Blue) vehicles, the side mirrors are painted in a tasteful shade of Iconic Silver, designed to mimic the chrome mirrors found on older Mustangs. On Wimbledon White vehicles, the mirrors are color-coordinated with the body.

Ford exploits its V8 muscle car monopoly

If you are the only automaker selling V8-powered muscle cars, you can charge a fee for the privilege.

Customers can optionally order side graphics in Iconic Silver or Vermillion Red that replicate the rocker panel stripes of the 1965 Mustang. Additionally, standard 60th anniversary badges are placed on the instrument panel to remind occupants that they are sitting in something special.

Exclusivity has its price

Ford has not said how many examples will be offered in Brittany Blue, but a total of 1,965 examples (a nod to the first model year) of all four models will be available. As for availability, interested customers can register their interest on Ford.com from August 16 to 19. The lucky buyers who are selected will be notified via email on August 21 and will have seven days to select a dealer to place their order with. As for price, the Brittany Blue variant will cost $65,245, making it more expensive than the base Dark Horse model.

New Heritage instrument panel designs for the 2024 Mustang

The limited edition isn’t the only way Ford is celebrating the ‘Stang’s 60th anniversary. Starting August 17, a new digital instrument cluster design will be available to 2024 Mustang owners. The designs were inspired by the 1999-2001 Mustang SVT Cobra, with classic white dials for daytime and ice blue details for night. Customers just need to have automatic software updates enabled to receive these nifty updates. With four months to go until sales begin, it remains to be seen what else Ford has planned for the Mustang. Fans of the legendary muscle car can at least look forward to the opening of the Mustang Experience Center in 2025.
