Former NFL player and BC star arrested after allegedly urinating on passenger of Dublin flight

A former National Football League and Boston College tackle allegedly urinated on a fellow passenger on a Delta Airlines flight to Dublin early Sunday and was arrested by state police after the plane returned to Logan International Airport, officials said.

Gosder Cherilus is scheduled to be arraigned Monday in East Boston Municipal Court on charges of disturbing the peace and interfering with the flight crew, state police said in a statement.

According to state police and Delta Airlines, Delta Flight 154 departed Logan for Dublin late Saturday. During the flight, an “unruly customer” forced the flight crew to return to Logan “because an unruly passenger was urinating on another passenger on board.”

After the flight landed, state police and customs and border protection officers boarded the plane, state police said.

“The troopers verbally ordered Cherilus to exit the aircraft, but he reacted angrily and refused to cooperate,” state police said. “Eventually, the troopers escorted Cherilus to the jetway and placed him under arrest.”

Cherilus, 40, lives in Wakefield. He talked about his years at BC and last year in the NFL, when he was named to the Globe’s All-Time All-Scholastic Team.

According to Delta, the passengers were rebooked onto another aircraft to continue their journey to Dublin.

“Delta does not tolerate any illegal behavior and will cooperate with law enforcement authorities in this regard,” the airline said in a statement. “We apologize to our customers for the delay to their travel.”
