Former NFL player arrested for allegedly urinating on passenger during flight to Dublin

Massachusetts State Police arrested a former NFL player early Sunday after he allegedly urinated on another passenger during a flight to Dublin.

Gosder Cherilus, 40, who played for the Detroit Lions, Indianapolis Colts and Tampa Bay Buccaneers between 2008 and 2016, was charged with disorderly conduct and interference with the flight crew after his Delta flight was diverted back to Boston.

State police asked Cherilus to leave the plane after it landed in the United States, but he became “angry” and “uncooperative,” the agency told CBS Boston. They eventually escorted him out and took him into custody.

A Delta spokesperson told Boston 25 News that Cherilus was “unruly,” and the airline apologized to the flight’s passengers.

“Delta has zero tolerance for unlawful conduct and will cooperate with law enforcement authorities to this end,” the spokesman said.

According to Boston 25 News, the remaining passengers boarded a plane on Sunday evening that was scheduled to arrive in Dublin on Monday.

Cherilus will appear in East Boston District Court for arraignment on Monday.

The 40-year-old played for Boston College from 2005 to 2007 before the Lions drafted him 17th overall in 2008. In Detroit, Cherilus started 71 of 75 games before later signing a five-year, $35 million contract with the Colts. He played just two years before Indianapolis released him and he eventually finished his career with the Buccaneers.
