BOSSIER CITY, Louisiana (KSLA) – The Bossier Fraternal Order of Police (FOP) is hosting a fundraiser to support a Bossier City police officer battling cancer.

Bossier FOP Lodge #39 is raising money for Officer Chad Kelly, who is battling cancer. The money will help Kelly and his family cover all costs of his treatment and recovery.

To raise money, the Lodge is hosting a hamburger cookout on Friday, August 23, at 620 Benton Rd. in Bossier City in front of the police station. Hamburger platters will be sold starting at 11 a.m.

“The FOP tries to help our members and officers in any way we can, whether it’s raising money at barbecues or fundraisers. One of our officers is currently battling cancer. We feel that he is a member of our lodge and the best thing we can do for him and his family is to have a barbecue and raise money,” said Sgt. Christopher Davis, president of the lodge.

“We are so proud of the Bossier Police Department and our Fraternal Order of Police and we are proud of the work that the police department does every day. So this is one of those rare opportunities for our citizens to come out and support an officer that needs help,” said Bossier City spokesman Louis Johnson. “They are truly sisters and brothers. They work together, they support each other at work and also in their personal lives. So this is a great opportunity. The FOP appreciates the chance to let our citizens know that we have someone that needs help and we ask those who can to please come out.”
