Toronto Blue Jays outfielder George Springer lost his composure at home plate umpire Manny Gonzalez after he was sent off in the seventh inning of the Los Angeles Angels game.
Springer faced Angels pitcher Kenny Rosenberg to start the seventh inning. On a 1-2 count, Rosenberg’s pitch was low and inside and was ruled a ball. Springer began running toward first base as if the pitch had hit him in the foot.

The Blue Jays used a replay review to challenge the call. The replay indicated that Springer was hit on the right foot, but the umpires concluded that he was not hit.
Springer began to complain and was ejected. But that was just the beginning of the fireworks. Toronto manager John Schneider also came out to protest the decision.
Springer had to be held back by Vladimir Guerrero Jr. and first base coach Mark Budzinski.

“I know the rule. He knows the rule. I was simply shocked by this decision,” said Springer after the 6-1 victory. “If you challenge the decision in this situation, it automatically means you’re thrown out. I understand that.”
Springer said Gonzalez initially told him he couldn’t see the play clearly because Angels catcher Logan O’Hoppe blocked the ball in the dirt zone. MLB told the AP that umpire Adrian Johnson couldn’t clearly determine that Springer’s foot had been hit.
Springer said he expressed his frustration with the outcome and was thrown out, which led to his tantrum.
“I have to get better. There are kids in the stands and I don’t want my sons to see me get so angry,” he said, adding that he knew the ball had hit him on the foot.
