Gonzaga’s Kraziness in the Kennel scheduled for October 5th

“Numerica Kraziness in the Kennel,” Gonzaga’s annual men’s basketball opener, will take place Saturday, Oct. 5, at 3 p.m. at the McCarthey Athletic Center, the school announced.

It’s the public’s first chance to see the Zags, who are ranked in the top 10 in numerous preseason polls. Admission to Kraziness in the Kennel is free, but a ticket is required.

A limited number of tickets will be made available to the public beginning at noon on October 2, with a limit of two tickets per account. Gonzaga students can pick up tickets from September 27-30. Doors open at 2 p.m. on October 5.

Kraziness in the Kennel typically features player and coach introductions, head coach Mark Few addresses the crowd, a skills contest and a 3-point contest, followed by a team practice game.

The Zags return six of their top seven scorers, led by forward Graham Ike at 16.5 points per game, and four transfers, including forward Michael Ajayi from Pepperdine and guard Khalif Battle from Arkansas.

Ajayi was the best point scorer in the West Coast Conference (17.2) and was second in rebounding (9.9) last season as a junior. Battle averaged 14.8 points for Arkansas and 14.2 points in SEC games.

Winger Steele Venters, who missed last season with a cruciate ligament tear, is on track to return.
