BATON ROUGE, Louisiana – With the next major election approaching, there is a lot of talk about election integrity.

Landry signed an executive order designed to ensure the integrity of Louisiana’s election process and the accuracy of its voter rolls. His primary goal with this executive order is to ensure that no one in this country can vote in Louisiana illegally.

“Every time an illegal alien votes, a citizen’s vote is invalidated,” Landry said.

His decree requires electoral laws to be included on forms used to apply for public services and at the Motor Vehicle Registration Office.

“We want to make clear in our message today that it is illegal for non-citizens to register and vote in our state. It is refreshing to have a governor who cares about election integrity. Governor Landry’s announcement today is the culmination of collaboration between his office and my office,” said Nancy Landry, the secretary of state, who is not related to the governor.

According to Nancy Landry, 48 illegal immigrants have been purged from the state’s voter rolls since 2022. In comparison, the state of Virginia recently purged over 6,000 nonresidents.

“It is not controversial to require proof of citizenship to register to vote and participate in our sacred elections. So if you register to vote illegally or help someone vote illegally, we will prosecute you,” Murrill said.

“In Louisiana, election integrity is our highest priority,” said Jeff Landry.

In Louisiana, it is a crime to vote illegally.
