Granddaughter of country music legend dies at age 64

Lynn Massey, the granddaughter of the late country music legend Loretta Lynn, died this week. She was 64 years old.

“Betty Sue’s daughter Lynn Massey, Loretta’s first grandchild, passed away this week after a long and difficult health battle,” reads a post on Lynn’s official Instagram page.. “Our family is so grateful for the prayers and love that are continually being shown to us.”

According to Taste of Country, Betty Sue died in 2013 at the age of 64 from complications of pulmonary emphysema.

The family has been struggling with health problems recently.

Lynn’s son, 69-year-old Ernie Lynn, survived life-threatening kidney surgery earlier this year.

In May, Ernie Lynn’s wife, Crystal Lynn, asked for prayers on Facebook after Ernie Lynn was readmitted to the hospital for physical ailments.

“We really don’t have any definitive answers as to what is going on with Ernie’s health right now, but they are trying their hardest to narrow it down and figure it out,” she wrote. “More testing is coming. We thank you all for your support and would greatly appreciate your continued prayers. Thank you all, God bless.”

Crystal Lynn announced that Ernie Lynn had been in and out of the hospital over the past week.
