GTA 6: Release date in October 2025 appears quietly on the Internet

The exact date of the upcoming title from Rockstar Games Grand Theft Auto VI has appeared online, but lower your expectations before reading on.

As revealed in this Reddit post, a user noticed that GTA VIThe release date of was leaked on IMDb.

The date indicates that the game will be released on October 27th next year, which actually matches what Rockstar Games has hinted at so far.

As you can confirm for yourself on the game’s IMDb page, the date is still set.

At this point, however, I advise you to hold back, because unfortunately we are still moving in a rumor mill here.

The Internet Movie Database, which despite its name also covers media other than films, is an online database that essentially serves as a Wikipedia for films.

Unlike Wikipedia, however, IMDb is not as strict about its sources. One look at the trivia section of any popular movie or TV show is enough to prove this, as people regularly just slap whatever made-up nonsense they want onto the site.

Since all you need to edit a page is an IMDb account, anyone can do it.

Considering that this is basically the only source, if you can even call it a source, for GTA VIGiven the release date, I think it’s more than fair not to take this at face value.

Although this “leak” has actually fooled quite a few people online, including in the thread where it was originally posted, many commenters have rightly pointed out that it is probably nonsense.

“I doubt they have a date set internally yet,” noted one commenter. “I’d guess September to maximize Christmas sales.”

“Nothing is real until it’s confirmed by Rockstar/Take Two. And definitely not more than a year in advance,” another replied.

So, yeah, unfortunately we can’t confirm anything yet. We’re guessing it’ll be out around October 27th, although September makes a lot more sense, but don’t get your hopes up just yet.
