Guillermo del Toro is frightened by a ghost in a Scottish hotel

Guillermo del Toro was frightened by an “angry” ghost while staying at a hotel in Scotland.
The Hollywood director was filming his new “Frankenstein” movie in Aberdeen and stayed in the “most haunted” room of an old hotel after a member of his crew moved out because they were terrified by the spooky goings-on – and he was busy investigating the haunting.
In a post on X – formerly known as Twitter – he wrote: “While in Aberdeen I am staying in an old 19th century hotel. I am in the creepiest room in it – which was vacated this morning by one of our producers.”
“Strange electrical and physical occurrences have frightened her and caused her to leave as quickly as possible. Stay tuned – if anything happens, I’ll report.”
He later told his followers that he had not observed any strange phenomena, but decided not to sleep in the room because of the “oppressive” atmosphere and that he was convinced that “something” was in there with him.
Guillermo added: “UPDATE – All I can say is: nothing has happened yet, but the atmosphere in the room is oppressive and I will not spend much more time there.
“It may be a suggestion but at this point I’ve kept it but am sleeping in a different room – I need 6 hours of sleep to have a good day of shooting – I stop there early and late in the day – but something is with me in that room… If something happens or nothing, expect another update or two.”
After filming wrapped on Thursday (22.08.24), the director went back into the haunted room and later admitted that he could sense an “angry” presence.
He wrote: “Shooting day finished. Going to room now – dinner at 8:00. If anything comes up, I’ll let you know. There’s more than just a mood in the room, there’s something angry and territorial. A hint of rage. Room number 4.”
The filmmaker tried to record electronic voice phenomena (EVP) with his phone and take a photo in the mirror to capture the haunting on camera, but he could not find any evidence of the haunting.
On Friday morning (23.08.24) he returned to X to admit defeat, but vowed to return to the room in the future to investigate it more closely. He wrote: “No sounds or images occurred – just an oppressive atmosphere – to Room No. 4 I will return… Life is unstructured – no grand finale.”
