Hamish Blake reveals the A-list interview that changed his life: ‘I think about it all the time’

Hamish Blake said his whole outlook on life changed after the interview with Virgin co-founder Richard Branson.

The 42-year-old radio star recently appeared on ABC’s The Assembly and said speaking with the 74-year-old billionaire business magnate was a life-changing experience.

He recalls a situation where he was completely baffled by Richard’s response to a producer who asked him for $1,000 during an interview on Hamish & Andy in 2010.

Hamish explained that he was chatting to Richard on the comedy show he hosted with co-star Andy Lee when producer Jack Post asked the billionaire for some money.

“Jack essentially said to him, ‘You’re a billionaire. Can’t we just go downstairs to the ATM? Can you give me a thousand dollars? It’s nothing to you, but it’s going to change my month,'” Hamish said.

“(Richard) said, ‘I’ll tell you what – there’s something I’d give you all my money for,’ and Jack said, ‘Really?’ and (Richard) said, ‘At your age.'”

Hamish went on to say that Jack was penniless and 22 at the time, while Richard was 60 and rich, but the Virgin co-founder insisted that he would love Jack’s life.

“We said, ‘What do you mean?’ and he said, ‘I’d rather be broke and 22 than a billionaire and 68’ or whatever he was at the time,” Hamish explained.

He added: “That’s true. I think that will be true for all of us. As we get older, we think, ‘OK, money is one thing in life, a tool that can certainly alleviate some bad situations and inconveniences, but it doesn’t make you happy.'”

“It’s not nearly as exciting as life itself, and all the best things are free. I think about that all the time.

“That’s always stuck with me, the idea that we have something that is immediately available to us and for which we would give up all our material possessions in the future.”

The life-changing revelation comes after Hamish and his wife Zoe Foster Blake, who have children Sonny and Rudy, headed off to a luxurious island break on a Greek island.

The 43-year-old author shared some stunning holiday snaps from her family vacation on the picturesque island of Milos on Instagram in July.

In one photo, Zoe shared a picture of herself in a swimsuit and a colorful, oversized shirt on a rocky beach.

There was also a snap of husband Hamish looking out over the crystal clear waters from a boat.
